Musée Jurassien des Arts Moutier (JU)1996
The Jurassic museum of contemporary art in Moutier needed a reconversion and an extension for changing exhibitions. The Jura is a determination of a geological region in France and Switzerland with the typical bright limestone. The idea was to create a relationship of the artspace to this region by using the geological condition. (Former ocean soils compacted and pushed op to the surface of the earth). To intensify the sense of materiality, the new wing was made out of the same substance as the existing villa and the pergola, a warm coloured limestone of a stone quarry nearby, it was grinded and mixed with white cement to pour concrete walls which were until it’s inner centre in a real relation to the region the art of the museum comes from.
